About AussieCalc

Free Australian finance calculators that use real tax rates, super rules, and lending conditions.

Why this site exists

Most online finance calculators are built for the US market and loosely adapted for Australia. They use the wrong tax brackets, ignore the Medicare levy, don’t account for HECS/HELP repayment thresholds, and have no concept of the superannuation guarantee. The numbers they produce are misleading for anyone making real financial decisions in Australia.

Every calculator on this site is designed from the ground up for Australian residents, using current ATO rates, state-specific stamp duty schedules, and the super contribution rules that actually apply here. We aim to give Australians accurate numbers they can use to make better financial decisions.

Who it’s for

Anyone making financial decisions in Australia. That includes first home buyers working out stamp duty and deposit requirements, employees checking their take-home pay under the latest tax rates, graduates estimating how long their HECS debt will take to clear, investors projecting ETF portfolio growth, and retirees modelling how long their super will last. The calculators are free, require no sign-up, and work on any device.

Built for Australian conditions

  • FY2025–26 tax rates: Stage 3 brackets, LITO, Medicare levy phase-in, and Medicare Levy Surcharge thresholds.
  • 12% SGC rate: employer superannuation guarantee at the current legislated rate.
  • State-specific stamp duty: NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT schedules including first home buyer concessions.
  • HECS/HELP thresholds: ATO FY2025–26 repayment bands and CPI indexation modelling.
  • 50% CGT discount: Australian resident individual capital gains tax with holding period logic.

How we approach accuracy

Every calculator on AussieCalc uses standard financial formulas. The same amortisation, compound interest, and tax bracket calculations used by banks, accountants, and the ATO. Assumptions are disclosed on every calculator page in a dedicated Methodology section, so you can see exactly what the calculator does and does not account for. Where rates or thresholds change (such as tax brackets or super guarantee rates), the calculators are updated to reflect current legislation.

Sources are cited on every page. Tax rates reference ATO publications. Superannuation rules reference the Treasury legislation. Stamp duty schedules reference each state and territory’s revenue office.

Important limitations

AussieCalc is an educational tool. The calculators produce estimates based on simplified assumptions and the inputs you provide. They are not financial, tax, or legal advice. AussieCalc does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence and is not a registered tax agent.

For significant financial decisions, such as buying property, structuring super contributions, managing capital gains, or planning retirement income, speak with a licensed financial adviser, registered tax agent, or mortgage broker who can assess your full situation. A calculator is a starting point for understanding the numbers, not a substitute for professional guidance.
